COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Usually the way I teach this course is as survey of world art from prehistory to the present. Instead this fallI will be shifting focus on momentous current events, the demand for social justice and the ominous Covid-19. I cannot carry on a class in good faith this fall without acknowledging the turbulent past few months. So, this class will be less conventional and also involve less work.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  1. The aim of this course is to increase students’ understanding and enjoyment of the art and architecture in the world around them.
  2. The class seeks to equip you with a kind of “tool kit” –a basic knowledge of various techniques of art making.
  3. visual training in analyzing what you see–so that you will be able to engage works of visual art confidently.
